Combining Healing and Damage for Healer Performance Evaluation

Hi Warcraft Logs Team,

I’d like to propose an idea for enhancing your analysis tools—specifically for healers. In many progression encounters, it’s increasingly important for healers not only to focus on healing but also to contribute meaningful damage. However, current logs tend to separate these aspects, making it difficult to assess a healer’s overall impact.

My suggestion is to introduce a new combined metric that reflects both healing and damage output—perhaps called “Total Contribution” or “Potential Value.” This metric could help highlight healers who significantly support the group’s success, even if their raw healing numbers aren’t at the top.

I believe this kind of value would also raise awareness in the community about the importance of active damage contribution from healers in modern gameplay.

Thanks for all your amazing work—I’ve been using Warcraft Logs for years and truly appreciate the depth of insight it provides!

Hello,

We have no plans on changing how healers are ranked currently. It is definitely something that has some nuance to it (healing vs damaging at the correct times) But we wouldn’t want to rank based on a combination of the both.

Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it. Healing parses are always an interesting topic to delve on as pretty much everyone has a different opinion on it.
