Bear form is the downgraded version of Dire Bear Form. You get Dire Bear at 40 and lose regular bear form. You can remove “Bear Form” from your check and only use “Dire Bear Form”
I just supported both, so it should be good now.
Definitely getting ranked as a bear more often in BWL, but there’s still a
few fights where I’m inexplicably ranked as cat.
Maybe because of the damage caused by the Thorns buff, which can only be cast / applied in humanoid form?
Bear didn’t work really until I added Dire Bear form after Townmedic pointed it out. I re-exported your log and it updated to be correct after that change.

Still not marked as tank Here. I tanked for over 70% of the fight before succumbing to Vael’s debuff. Defensive Stance for over 40% of the fight (popped reck before pull and swapped before Vael became agro).
Any sleuths that can tell what happened here to make me show as DPS?

There’s no stance changes shown in the log and no defensive stance abilities were used, so I could not infer your stance.
So, 40% of the fight must be done in D stance, but the logs need to detect you in D stance? So I would need to swap at the start of the fight for it to count the cast? Or does it not detect it by the Casts section?
As well in that fight, was the 1 Revenge cast from Supersoldier enough for it to count him as a tank despite he also not “casting” Defensive stance?
Correct, literally any known defensive-stance-locked ability would have enabled me to figure out your stance, e.g., Revenge, Taunt, Shield Block, etc.

Thank you for all the work you put in, and it’s amazing how much detail warcraftlogs provides for our personal analysis of how we’re doing.
I also very much enjoy the chase of logs, and I too have a case where I was tanking (Razorgore) but was parsed as a Fury DPS. It’s very unfortunate, because instead of getting #29 world as tank, I get a mediocre parse as a dps. I work towards allstars tank points (as maintank).

In the personal damage tab and cast tab it shows I have used many sunders (to generate threat, much more than a fury dps would have done), and 0 executes - because I am in defensive stance for all of the encounter.

Unfortunately the log does not show what stance I am in (probably because I start the fight in def stance and don’t cast it during combat?), and I do not use shield block (or shield slam) because I did not wear a shield and am fury defiance. Neither did I get the chance to use revenge (no dodge/parry so it wasn’t usable). One thing that can be seen however is how the boss switches to me when first tank gets conflagerated. I would not have been second on threat with my damagedoneif I wasnt in defensive stance. Which shows I was in fact tankingand trying to build second threat so I would get aggro.
Is there any chance this log can be changed to me being parsed as tank? It would have a huge impact on my personal best and all star points, which I enjoy so much to work towards.
i would consider the change largely a success and even if some logs show up wrong (no chance to cast revenge), triggering a single stance change somewhere in the fight (e.g. to execute) gives us full control to be ranked correctly.
the last few edge cases for warriors (i guess druids are really fine now, you always maul or something right?) could be filtered out by a percentage of sunder armor cast as a backup, if no stance was infered. But I’m not sure if that’s worth the effort as everyone who wants to rank can control it by just switching stance once.

you were only 31% of the fight in defensive stance and 69% in berserker stance, so you are considered a dps. the current threshold is 35% time in defensive stance. otherwise a dps that pulls aggro and is just kept alive by healers, might get labeled a tank, which is even worse. If you wanna be labeled as a tank stay longer in def stance and use at least one def stance capped ability (taunt, revenge) or switch to berserker for execute, so the algorithm can pick up your spec.

Glad that you are working on this issue and very much appreciate everything that the combatlogs team does.
I tank as a Prot Pally. Typical casts for boss tanking in BWL / MC are GBoK spam. Compulsory buff on a paladin who is tanking for any encounter is Righteous Fury (picked up by log, listed in Stances, Auras and Seals). Additionally, Holy Shield can only be cast by someone who is spec’d deep prot.

Thanks for the work in advance, I was wondering about my log that I’ve gotten this night. I was OT’ing Razorgore (When MT gets Conflagged), I was in def stance the whole fight since i need to fight for 2nd spot aggro. But as you might have guessed I was flagged as a dps this fight. Is there any possibilty of changing this to tank log? This was a 99% log, but I didn’t get a revenge proc on the fight, and didn’t need to swap to shield, so this might have made it a non-tank log.

PSS: You can check the logs for all kills aswell that I am in fact tanking and not trying to cheese anything or something ^^

Thank you for all your hard work. I had a similar instance last night of being flagged as DPS even though I was tanking the entire time. I was in defensive stance but I did swap just before the fight started after popping reck. Not sure if the logs missed defensive stance somewhere? Currently shows no tanks on the fight.

I’ve tanked Gahz’ranka for > 90 % of the time. I know that I’ve been logged as a DPS because I only was in Def stance for a short amount of time and used Berserker Stance for the rest of the fight. I did use Revenge and Taunt, though.
You could maybe take the threat percentage of the fight into account. At least for a human this is 100 % a tank log
I have made an amendment to the heuristic to re-instate the damage taken check for bosses only (not adds).
So the new rule is now:
(1) 35% in Defensive Stance. Prove you’re in the stance by switching stances or using def-stance-locked abilities.
OR
(2) Take > 50% of the boss melee attacks.
I think this should largely cover all the bases now, since a person who tanks only adds is likely to switch out of Defensive Stance, and similarly if tanks are swapping off on a boss, the tank will presumably switch stances as well.
