The idea is great, the only downside I can see is people intentionally saving their DPS for buffs to boost the DPS of a single member for catered parses, regardless of efficiency. The easiest and most apparent example would be bringing multiple physical ranged to a Dragoon parse to up the damage they contribute from Disembowl over others. The easiest fix is to have the damage contributed not count towards a personal parse, but be listed separately while still showing who buffed the raid for what amount of damage. It’s more for the people who use FFlogs as a means to compete than it is to look at damage contributed to improve a raid, however both can achieve what they want as long as that’s looked at. Your work is much appreciated
would there be a way to normalize dps? What I mean is if a caster has 60% balance uptime and foe + balance vs another caster who has 0% balance and a mch could you adjust values based off uptime of certain buffs? Honestly thinking about this it might be impossible and ignoring buffs could be the only way to do it.
Thinking more about this would it be easiest to parse potency? I also want to not that I disagree with add “padding” being a problem. It’s not the players fault that they are smart and putting some damage down on the adds. It would only really be a problem if it sacrifices some mechanic or dps check.
Also to be clear, I’m not suggesting that this effect rankings, it would be interesting to see this on a separate scale for true comparison purposes
Relatively old post, I know, but I wanted to say I would also like to see this, and also see rankings based on this.
Honestly, that sounds like the only real way this can be implemented. I would love this. I get annoyed with having to compete with bored raiders who gave their PLD 95% balance uptime.
